Howdy, fellow Newgrounds members!
For the past few months, I have been working to wrap my head around the concepts of AS3 and OOP for real. The culmination of those efforts is a game project I am HOPING to release in the near future. It's called XVG, a simple shooter in the style of 1943. I know, they're a dime a dozen. But this is one that's been rattling around in my head since 2002, and I'd like some closure, if you will.
Now, what does this have to do with you? Well, as I get near the end, I am seriously interested in testing my code out as extensively as possible before I actually launch it. My first game, a pong clone, worked well enough. but it was ugly (e.g., I forgot to embed the font), it had it's glitches, and it was a very poor excuse for trying to get my foot in the door, so to speak.
So, when the time finally rolls around, if you are interested in beta testing, leave a comment below. I'll invite you to preview the game when the day rolls around. I'm not looking for anything extensive. All feedback is accepted, and appreciated.
Heck, I'll even throw your name in the credits. :)
I'm a week late in posting this, but here we are. The year 2012 is finally upon us.
Either the Mayans are right, and we're all gonna meet the Rapture (again?) in less than 12 months... Or 2012 will finally be the year that Skynet shakes the cobwebs and comes online, delivering its own logical calculation of what the "judgement" is really all about in a strange twist of humor.
Then again, I've got a better idea. Maybe 2012 is gonna be just like every other year, except that it will kick all kinds of ass!
Happy 2012, folks!
Alright. So, this past week was a bit unforgiving due to my most recent visit to the dentist. As such, I've held been back another week on my work. By this Sunday, I plan to have a working version of my next project - XVG.
XVG, short for Xeno-Viking Gravipod, will be a shooter in the style of Xevious. The project is already 90% complete - even down to some of the music. There is, however, a lot of clean-up work, as well as adding actual substance to the game. And that's what makes up the last 10%.
EDIT: Also, this will only be the 1st chapter. You won't see anything of the XVG itself - I've got that concept sketched out, but not ready for the game yet. More details as they become available. :)
With New Year's coming up, I decided to start on my resolutions a bit early. I've begun the learning process of Flash game programming. This time, for real. My first game, a simple Pong clone, can be seen in the Flash Portal - just check my latest submissions for the link.
The feedback I got was both encouraging and enlightening. So, what's on the horizon?
1. A shooter game in the style of the Raiden series.
2. A Snake/Light Cycles game themed after (of course) TRON.
3. A turn-based strategy game set in feudal Japan.
4. A turn-based fantasy RPG relying heavily on magic.
5. A side-scrolling beat-em-up, themed around a reality TV show.
I'm keeping hush hush on the titles for now. But more details will become available as each project nears completion. If you're at all interested, stay tuned. Or, if you have something you'd like to see made, let me know. I like a challenge! :D
